History of Radio Age

1961~1968After transmitting the first radio signal on December 2, 1961, MBC became the first private commercial broadcasting company in Korea. Since its establishment, MBC has been working for the public good by providing innovative and listener-oriented programs. The broadcasting activities of MBC Radio in the 1960's are reappraised as an important chapter of the Korean broadcasting history, and a basis for the growth of the Korean broadcasting industry.

  • 1968 MBC network expanded to include Ulsan, Jinju, Gangneung, Chuncheon, Jeju)
  • 1967 Exclusive overnight, live coverage of the 6th presidential election of Korea
  • 1963~65 Established a nationwide network
    (Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Jenju MBC)
  • 1963 Exclusive coverage of the election of members of the National Assembly
  • 1962 Established the May 16 Scholarship Foundation
    (renamed to Jeong-Su Scholarship Association)
